Suntzinteko

I could here nothing but my laboured breathing. I could see nothing but bright white out of my swollen eyes. I could feel nothing but the aching of my limbs. I could do nothing but let myself go.

Disease

Transmission & Vectors

The disease is transmitted through physical interaction with another being. As someone touches another person, even through clothes, the disease is attracted to that life and is absorbed into their skin. It can also be transmitted through someone touching that which a diseased has touched.

Causes

To develop into its infectious stage, it must have the right conditions. These include a hot, humid environment and the abundance of life that it feeds off.

Symptoms

First Three Days

The infected first develop photosensitivity, which is closely followed by laboured breathing and wheezing.

After Five Days

Next headaches occur, before fatigue and laziness.

After Eight Days

Vomiting happens next, accompanied by aches and pains all over the body. Finally, a deep blue rash starts to develop that spread slowly from your chest all around your body until it engulfs you and draws all the life from you.

Treatment

A rogue dwarf who pitied the elves and was angered by the move from the dwarfs engineered a cure that was quickly dispersed through Koboldia. Unfortunately it was only successful as a vaccine and those infected persisted nonetheless.

Prognosis

Certain death in 10 to 14 days.

Affected Groups

All groups were affected and only the strongest remained uninfected until the vaccine.

Prevention

The vaccine created by the young dwarf was widely used and prevented the remaining 20% of Mágicia from perishing.

Epidemiology

This disease starts in the densely populated areas of Mágicia especially the markets on the outskirts. This is due to its need of life to destroy.

Effects

History

It was first thought of in 3197UMY, where the dwarven government commissioned it to test their powers. In 3206UMY, it was considered as a weapon to thin the elven herd and weaken their enemies. Despite this decision being overturned, in 3208UMY, an extremist dwarf spread it through Mágicia hoping to wipe out the population once and for all. This lead to the splitting of Mundomirum and eventually the Great War.

Cultural Reception

When it was abundant its carriers were ostracised and locked in magically protected safe houses that were there to stop the spread of disease.
