All thanks to the mastery of industrialized thaumaturgy.   Ever since the dawn of time, magic have always been an enigmatic force that can brought great power to the few that can master it. For centuries magic is a force that looms over the world, its user priced by the rulers of the world as warlocks and scholars. But as time marches on this barrier starts to broke down. Constant warfare not only wears down the mundane populace, but also the magical community. The colleges and circles are forced to loosen their standard and broadens their recruitment net to the people, exposing more to magic than before.   Developments such as the printing press imbued with runes and enchantments allows the mass-production of grimoires and seals. Initially intended to allow an increasing number of mages to be trained, these once rare items soon founds itself into the general population, with amateur mages and alchemists appearing all over the world. Magic, once mysterious and esoteric, is becoming increasingly mundane.Technological progress, now directly mixed with magic, moves on at an unprecedented pace. What once started as attempt to imbue magical properties to weapon escalates into automated machinery and great engines of industries. Lifespans are increased by tenfold, allowing the once short-lived races to live like their neighbors. Warfare, always been a messy business, is also greatly enhanced in its lethality.   In the realm of global politics, the world sees an upheaval that have never seen before. The people, hungry for revolts toppled many of the old monarchies. In parts of the world the ideal of democracy, actually an ancient system that is once prominent in the times of the city states, rose back into prominence with many of them successfully compromises with their monarchs. While in some other, a new ideology born out of modernity, an ideology known as "Syndicalism", rouses the frustrated working class into brutally tearing apart the old hegemonies without mercy, often ending up as centralized autocracies themselves. And in parts where the monarchies still stand, the kings and queens of ancient bloodlines tighten their grips over the population, discovering soon how technology not only capable of bringing reforms, but also that it can be used to stifle them.
