Humans

Humans are the sole race on the planet that is not one of Mother's children. They have no connection to her, because their race fell from the stars a hundred hundred years ago. This is why they alone cannot breed with any of mother's children including the sableine, and this is why they've only recently discovered magic and begun to harness it.   Shortly after they arrived, the first set of humans met with ambassadors. As soon as communication could be made, the humans said they intended to never return to the stars. They destroyed the sleek metal they came in, and they told their children nothing of where they came from.   And their children began to forget.   Now, generations later, humans remember nothing of their origins. They keep themselves apart for the most part, and their cataloguing of Mother's children is so sparse as to be useless. They keep contact with only a couple of tribes.   Human magic functions closest to Magin, though not the same. Only a small number of humans are born with enough attunement to make use to the tapestry of magic motes around them, and they must bend it into careful, exact patterns to get it to obey. Their number of patterns grows each year, but for the most part they struggle to do even the simplest task with magic.   Generally, any human magician can use only one element, or two at most. Their runes channel the power into safe, careful spaces, with no beauty or intuition to it.
