R3 Ranger
The R3 Ranger is a specialized vehicle designed with speed and power in mind. These vehicles are design for getting a single passenger quickly to or from their destination. They are popular with Outriders, relatively speaking, though their high price point keeps them from ever really getting close to being ubiquitous, even among those elites.
Their design prioritizes customization, and there are a wide variety of different parts that can be modularly attached. That list includes armor, various different auxiliary charging mechanisms, tactical mounts for weapons, and even expansions for more seats or for hauling small loads. These vehicles are produced in Motorville, and their rarity can spell a long journey for Outriders operating further away from the haven. Owning an R3 is a mark of status, as it indicates that a person is both willing to venture out of a haven during The Long Winter and successful in doing so.
The R3 comes with a closed canopy that closes snugly around the rider to prevent wind chill and provide some limited armor. The canopy shell can be removed to allow for a faster top speed and better handling. It has a four wheel drive, and the wheels can be swapped out for treads in very rough weather conditions.
Power Generation
The R3 Ranger is equipped with a mid-capacity, high output, cold resistant battery designed specifically for the Ranger. The battery is able to operate in all but the lowest temperatures, and is based on what has been reverse engineered from powerful old world engines like the ones found in the F209 - Flagship. That said, the Ranger is a new design, and it has to compromise on power output and capacity, simple because the parts required to stay true to the old world design philosophies cannot be reproduced today.
The battery's biggest claim to fame is resistance to high voltage. The R3 can be fitted with a transformer that would allow the vehicle to be charged by magically generated electricity, and an operator with sufficient know-how and capability may be inclined to carry a bolstered supply of magical catalysts that can be used to produce a charge for long rides.
Propulsion
The Ranger's engine is able to pull the small craft along at speeds up to 150 mph in ideal conditions, and is able to generate sufficient power to climb steep hills. It feeds electricity back into the battery when decelerating.
Sensors
The R3 comes with a variety of onboard sensors to help with navigation. A compass, thermometer, and radiation monitor are standard issue.
