Integrated Retinal Enhancement - Optical Implant
Retinal enhancements and optical implants allow for various utilities centred around the identification of one's surroundings and advanced access to the inner mechanics of one's internal bio metrics using integrated UI systems. In layman's terms - this grants visual access to key points of data such as the heart rate, bpm, current physical condition, and much more accessible only to the wearer integrated into the iris in a non-intrusive manner. Optical implants are not a largely noticeable piece of cyberware and, so long as they are professionally installed and adequately cared for, may not harm the wearer in any way. Cyber-optics, as they are known colloquially, take the form of minuscule pieces of hardware integrated among the optical nerves to transmit information in a convenient and non-obtrusive manner and are available in many models developed by several differing corporations.
Whence compared to bionics and prosthetics, cyber-optics are far less obtrusive and manageable for the average aug. These aforementioned varieties of cyberware require the installation of artificial organs entirely requiring the removal of the eyeball, whereas implants coexist alongside existing biology. The downsides to this are that implants may never have as complex internal workings and disallow the same amount of install-able hardware. For example, an aug preferring implants to bionics may not possess as many cybernetics than if they were to introduce bionics into their system. Borgs, as some have come to call them, however run the risk of overclocking their system and introducing a variety of compatibility issues.
