Ghoul
Ghouls are a humanoid species, similar to borderwalkers, but carnivorous in nature and lacking any magical abilities on their own. What separates a ghoul from a human are their inner biology and physical strength, neither of which are visible at first glance. They are often referred to as predators, as even the most friendly ghouls have the same survival instincts.
It is important to note that all ghouls differ from each other in various aspects. Whether one can sate their hunger more by normal food rather than blood, or whether how long one can go without blood depends on the individual.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The only outstanding trait about ghouls that draws a clear line between them and humans is their strength. They don't need to be particularly muscular or well-built to be able to crush bones without breaking a sweat. It is said, that one of the strongest aspects of a ghoul is their jaw.
Dietary Needs and Habits
Their primary diet consists of blood, either by any quintessence beings, ghouls or humans; most of them can digest and enjoy normal food as well, but living without consuming blood is impossible for them.
Additional Information
Perception and Sensory Capabilities
In general, a ghoul's natural senses are heightened compared to average. They're also capable of sensing other's heartbeat, although most of them can tune it out as it can be extremely distracting.
Conservation Status
The race is not exactly protected - people's opinions on them are very much divided. Some fear them, others don't particularly care, and the rest are fond of them. In various places of the world, they are even hunted, although that is an illegal act in the Northern Union.
Half-ghouls are considered extinct, as even if one appears, they seem to be unable to live for long, minus a few exceptions.
