The Rose Scepter (phonetic)
Aiwei Treesinger descended from the heavens as bright as the sun rising in the east. He slowly materialized within the light, but the light cloaked and followed him as his feet touched ground at the holiest of sites at Ankora. His angelic features surveyed the land in all directions, and he smiled at his creation.
He held aloft an ornately carved rose scepter. It glowed a crimson red from the ornate ruby crystal inset at the top. He called to the creatures of Mohn: the birds, the reptiles, and the mammals. He called them to meet their father. Many came, but some were frightened and stood back. He moved to the frightened and convinced them all was safe. To each he moved, holding their chins, and looking into their eyes and he saw a searching, but no spark and he was sad.
Standing up, Aiwei smiled at them all and said, “All my beautiful creatures, both tall and small. Come for my blessing so you may understand.”
With that, he took the scepter and poured his blessing onto the host of creatures. The red glow spread out from the ruby and washed over all, and their eyes were opened and held a fire.
At first, all were frightened as they did not understand what had been given to them. A small fox was the first to be brave enough to speak, and she said, “Who are you?”
Aiwei took her in his arms and said, “You are all my children and I have favored you in my wisdom. I shall name you Salleh, a name meaning wisdom in my ancient tongue and you will teach my people.” He pointed to every awakened animal surrounding them, “The Way of the Tree.”
Salleh Silkas was the Founder of The Roses at The Great Awakening, given the Rose Scepter by Aiwei Stormbringer himself. It was said the great Aiwei talked in riddles and stories and Salleh followed his lead using oral traditions to hand down his teachings.
The Silkas sect came about soon after as a more druidic sect of The Roses. Salleh and her council created the Silkas to pass along the teachings of Aiwei to the unawakened masses, for there were many species who had no spark as they called it.
Unlike the Roses, The Silkas had few buildings or centers of power and preferred to worship at holy sites and spread the ministry to the ‘ignorant’ far and wide. It is said Salleh left The Roses to direct her true calling in the words and deeds of the Sect built around her name.
The Silkas awakened many ‘lesser species’ such as insects, spiders, and amphibians to the call of ministry. They are called Sparkbringers in those cultures who traditionally found themselves looked down on by polite societies.
The Silkas also sparked an awakening in the oceans and many cities sprung up under the waves.
The Silkas were said to have the Rose Scepter in their possession, but people aren’t sure if it’s true or a legend.
