Naeswole Geographic Location in Mohn | World Anvil

Naeswole (Nays-wol)

The Naeswole is the world under the world. There is a whole unknown ecosystem underneath he skies of the Planet of Mohn.   The Naeswole intersects with the waterway systems of the planet and the underwater community sees no difference between the Eawole (the surface) and the Neaswole (the Undersurface).   Fish are the scholars and data keepers of the world. The sages of the entire globe both above and below. Some say they've recorded time and history for the past 30,000 years. Being secretive and xynophobic, the fish and aquatic Mammals of the deep oceans hold ancient cities milennia old. There has been no war under the waters for thousands of years. In that stability, these creatures learned to live within nature long before those who breathe air above the surface of the waves.   In the annals of aquatic histories, their airbreathers broke the surface of the Naeswole in an underground river deep below the surface of the planet some 20,000 years ago. The map read some 3,000 meters beneath where the Lonn Capitol stands now. They beheld a dark world interspersed with bioluminescent plants, fungus, and mushrooms like huge alien forests of a rainbow of colours. A foreign place full of wonders and many hidden dangers. Intelligent creatures with acitve Blackvision prowl every canyon, cavern, city and long caves. The plants grow deep in the Naeswole are fed by some type radiation that goes through deep rock. The plants have a purple colour and radiate their own faint luminescence. These plants are the bottom of the food chain.   The only humanoid creature exists in the Naeswole. A small species of hairy gnome-like creatures calling themselves The Tepars. They are not necessarily evil, but territorial and will defend themselves if they feel threatened. It is said they were surface dwellers once, but no longer. The spiders avoid them, but tepars don't bother them either.   The Naeswole can only be accessed from certain areas around the globe as it is deep. It is deeper than typical limestone cave depths and can go as deep as 5 km below the earth, maybe deeper. It has never been confirmed, but the Naeswole is thought to circle the globe. Usually the openings to the surface are through ancient volcano cones. The networks travel in every direction and are inhabited by denizens alien to the surface.

Geography

The geography is below ground in vast caves, sprawling subteranean rooms, tunnels, as well as underground lakes and vast river systems. It is the world beneath the upper world under the sky. There are many dangers below ground. Many who travel in the Neaswole never return. It is easy to get lost or take the wrong path and become hopelessly lost or die of hunger or lack of water. There are hidden cliffs that plummet for kilometers in some places. There are vast cities sprawling in the Neaswole. Some are friendly or ambivalent to the easwole, some are not so friendly or downright hostile. Fish have recorded cave sustems as deep as nine kilometers before the granite underneath is too hard to form into caves, but they write they have no doubt there are deeper caves with possibly more alien creatures.

Ecosystem

The ecosystem below the ground can be said to be delicate, but it can also be robust. There are many hardy creatures in the deep depths of the planet microbes: The microbes of the neaswole are numerous and vital to every living creature on the planet. Some microbes are massive and visible to the eyes. Some are dangerous and the spores they admit can be lethal. The plant system underground are thousands of different species of fungi as well as 12 species of of silicon based life-forms.
