Arachnid Ethnicity and the ideal of perfection (Arach-nid Eth-nic-ity)

Almost every species on the planet of Mohn has a sentient version, both self-aware and intelligent so in effect each species can be seen as a separate ethnicity in comparison to the humans on this planet.

Spider Background

On the planet of Mohn, two meters long and high spiders are some of the most misunderstood creatures alive. Intelligence as sharp as their needle-like legs and fangs and the quest for precision as well as accuracy in every endeavor they pursue, spiders are 'weaned', compete for life with the hordes of their brothers and sisters in early childhood, and branded by their elders to succeed and excel in life for the glory of their Hallows.   Spiders seek nonviolence in the same manner as Buddhist monks and only attack in a last resort. They prefer to jump away at high speeds and distances and avoid a fight or web any foe up and call the authorities to take care through the justice system.   Spider's main disadvantage to some and advantage to those who try to learn their delicate beautiful culture is their language. Spiders have no vocal cords and cannot communicate in that means.   Spider's work and play with a form of communication they call Tisza. Tisza is the most complicated language on the planet of Mohn, but one wonderful thing about it. Spiders do not have many dialects as they are prone towards perfection and uniformity. The grand councils debate solemnly on any changes to the Tisza from far and wide and only the most remote cities and outposts (including moon and planet colonies) have significant variations or dialects from the approved norms.   Tisza is a form of communication through motions, eye movements, dances, leg motions and facial expressions. Spiders and some trained insects really are the only ones capable of speaking Tisza because the inflection of the movements adds to the meaning of the ‘words and you really need at least 6 legs to bring your point around correctly.   Some four-legged creatures have picked up the language, but their lacked limbs, eyes and movements severely retards their growth. They are joking called “The phassaq” in spider written language, or rather “the convulsing” in common tongue because of how they twist themselves around to try to speak to their spider friends. It is not an insult, more an attribute of spider humor. Spider humor is a mix of Black Adder and Monty Python humor, dry and witty and not exceptionally popular with warm blooded creatures. A phassaq is a term of endearment and much appreciated as so many spiders are misunderstood and shunned due to base fears and ignorance.   Reception by Warm-Blooded Creatures   The mammals and birds in the Republic, have a dual relationship with spiders. The first instinct of every creature is to gasp in revulsion at the sight of a massive hairy spider coming at them, but once these same people get more accustomed to spiders they see their finer qualities. Tisza can be deciphered with a HIP device with about an 80% accuracy, so its simple to communicate between species. Where the HIP fails is in the humour and colloquialisms, slang in spider speak.   Spiders are highly sought after for their resolute determination to do their very best job in the most complex of careers. Spiders enter into realms of employment in jobs requiring precision and accuracy. This includes anything requiring technology or engineering. Spider communities are ordered with a defined hierarchy. The male spiders have earned their emancipation from the female totalitarian rule 211 years ago, but they are the weaker smaller of the two genders, but more gifted in gadgetry and engineering. Spiders make great scientists and engineers and expect all students to think like a spider, there is no discussion about it either. No chaos, focus on pure intellect and reason with an odd practical joke thrown in.   Spiders make great crack troops in the military. Their tough skins and ability to work in space without a suit makes them indispensable to colonial work and many of them are attracted to that style of life. They are found as both commissioned and enlisted troops based on their skills and education.

Thank you very much. I am still working on my spider idea. I don't know how to use the WA interface well with all the sidebars and such. I just write in articles. Eventually I would like to learn CSS and inputing images
