Gnome
True gnomes are little folk. They grow as high as three or four feet tall (and as short as 2), are gifted with natural magics, and are known for their rich family culture and sticky fingers.
Earth : Gnomes as a species have normalized after generations of cross-breeding such that they are now short by our standards, but nowhere near their original tiny statures. Some families of them maintain a connection to their magical ancestry, but outsiders consider it all to be legend and myth. They can commonly be found in circuses, traveling acts, small communities, and the occasional crime family.
In the modern world all species have cross-bred to the point that a wild amount of variance exists. Because of this many height, age, and size extremes have been normalized closer to the average human lifespan. This species selection marks the dominant visual influence.
Home : Gnomes hold no allegiances other than to their own family. There is a tale that one family did sell its loyalty to a singular ruler, but that is difficult to verify. Gnomes break up areas into territory. Occasionally gnome families have gone to war over territory, but mostly they are at peace with each other. They deal in thievery and delivery of both goods and messages.
