Protector of Angel Island

Being the Protector of Angel Island is no easy task, and only the strong-minded and able-bodied can handle the job. The current Protector is none other than the last living Echidna, Knuckles. Since the day he was born, he had been in charge of the Island, overseeing the entire thing. At first, he hated his job. He wanted to leave the island and see the world, but by now, he has learned to appreciate his job and all the free time it gives him.
The job consists of three main duties: guarding the Master Emerald, protecting the Super Emerald shrine, and making sure the perimeter of the Island has not been breached. The easiest task out of these three is definitely guarding the Master Emerald since it cannot move anywhere, and if anyone wanted to steal it, they'd have to grab it without disturbing Knuckles, which is almost impossible. Knuckles has built himself a house near the Master Emerald shrine, which is in constant view. The energy radiated from the Master Emerald is quite intense, and if there is any disturbance in the constant flow of power, no matter how small, Knuckles would feel it.
Protecting the Super Emerald shrine is arguably the hardest task of the three. The shrine is located in a secret area called the Hidden Palace. The only way to access the Hidden Palace is by entering the lava tubes at the foot of Angel Island's volcano. It is extremely dangerous, with cascading lava-falls and superheated steam vents making up most of the threats. Fortunately for Knuckles, he memorized the quickest and safest way to get to the Hidden Palace. Once inside, he must thoroughly inspect the seven Super Emeralds for any changes. Are their colors still vibrant? Are they still producing Chaos energy? Are there any cracks in them? Things of that nature.
The mid-difficulty task is securing Angel Island's perimeter. Angel Island is quite large, at a size of 200,000 square miles, it is quite a journey to make. Luckily for Knuckles, he has technology on his side. The famed Dr. Prower created a set of shoes that grants the wearer a massive speed boost, giving them a max speed of 750 miles per hour. He gave the shoes to Knuckles, granting him the ability to run around Angel Island in a quarter of the time it would normally take. While completing this task, the Protector must keep on the lookout for anything out of the ordinary along the way. It's relatively simple. Once these daily tasks are complete, the Protector may do as he pleases, but must return to the Master Emerald if called upon by it.

The Protector of Angel Island has a big responsibility in his hands. Luckily, this job is handled by the main man Knuckles the Echidna!
