World Culture Instructor

There are many subjects taught at the schools in Ashamaal in Sindar, and while there are many careers more prestigious and desirable than teaching at the academy there, few are as vital, but undervalued as a World Culture Instructor. This is not to say that an education isn't valued, or that the Safreen don't consider it important to know and understand other cultures. It is most commonly simply because they think that there is nothing that a youth will learn in the school that they won't learn at home. To some extent this is true as they are very diligent about passing on their knowledge to their children. However, a huge part of the success of their traders has come, in no small part, due to the intimate knowledge of the cultures they travel through, and that knowledge has been so effectively instilled in them due to the skill and efforts of their instructors.

Career

Qualifications

• Three years traveling and trading outside Sindar
• At least two trips through of no less than a month in length through any region that they will teach
• Study under a Journeyman of Culture for five years
• Recommendation of a Journeyman of Culture
• Approval by a Master of Culture

Career Progression

• Upon being accepted into training, aspiring instructors begin as Apprentice of Culture.
• After being judged to have sufficient ability and potential, taking an average of 5 years, they are given the rank of Journeyman of Culture and can teach in the academy unsupervised.
• The final rank is Master of Culture which usually takes between 10 and 20 more years to achieve and the approval by majority vote by all the Master's currently residing at the academy.
