Ktab Zaakrayat Item in Misremembered Realms | World Anvil

Ktab Zaakrayat

The Ktab Zaakrayat is one of the books most speculated about by mages and scholars. The earliest known records of it say that it was kept in a hidden vault within the fortress of Angalistar protected by a special guard whose only duty was the safeguarding of the book. Of the fortress, only the name is still known. Knowledge of its location has been lost to time. The kingdom it was a part of or those charged with safeguarding the tome have likewise been lost to time.
The book itself is said to be an ancient tome of immense power which contains the secrets to giving the reader the power of creation, and if one could read and understand all of it, they would become a being on par with the primal deities of creation. It also contains future yet to come, including prophecies about the end of all life and the information on how to prevent it. Furthermore, it is said that if the reader desires some knowledge they need only think on what they want to know and turn the page and the information will be there in as much detail as they wish. Even long guarded knowledge known only to gods and demons are not hidden from the reader of the tome.
A typical response one has when they hear of Ktab Zaakrayat is that if it does or did actually exist, why did no one use it and attain godhood? Surely there were those near it who would have given into the temptation of such a powerful item. The ruler of the kingdom that guarded it would surely have used it to protect his kingdom, rather than it fading into obscurity, right? These are good issues to bring up and the answers are debated, but there are a few popular theories.
One common theory is simply that the artifact never existed, or at least that not all the things said about it are true. Another theory holds that the book was used, and the being born from it either abandoned the world entirely, or destroyed the kingdom to keep it's secret and hid or destroyed the book. Yet another theory holds that the legends about the book are true, but for some reason the book is unable to be read. Maybe it is in another language that has been forgotten, or is too complex for a mortal mind to comprehend. Whatever the reason, none now know where it resides, if it ever existed at all.
