Tears of Temptation

Three tears of temptation to take your body, your mind and your soul.

Summary

Once long ago there was a maiden who wanted nothing more than to wed the neighbors son, but he turned her down each time she tried to make an advance. Each time she was turned down her heart ached a little more.

Then one day when she was turned away yet again she could not take it anymore. She ran home and began to cry, tears running down her cheeks. As she sobbed, she heard an unexpected noise.

She ignored it, and as time passed she suddenly realised that her feelings had changed. She no longer felt desire for the neighbors son and she understood how he felt towards her.

She looked at the table, realising that three of her tears have become solid as jewles. Touching them she felt a flair of emotion that she moments ago had missed. Each pearl ignited a different temptation.

She stopped touching them and just looked, unsure on how to proceed. The temptation had made her act, but it had also estranged her from those around her.

Eventually she carefully picked them up, making sure to not touch with bare skin, wrapped them up in a piece of cloth and then through them out of the window, as far as she could.

Some time later a goldsmith found them and learned what it meant to be tempted.

Historical Basis

There is enough anecdotal evidence to suggest that the necklace was real. The details of what it looked like are a little vague, but some things are agreed upon. Obviously there are three pearls, each shaped as teardrops. These are then attached in some form of silver thread which in turn are woven into the silver neck band.
