Orolks

The Orolks are a race of creatures made by the Dark King of Malgrond to serve him in his conquest of the land of Mirydain. They are employed as warriors and form the bulk of the Army of Malgrond.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

Orolks are man-shaped and can reach up to six feet in height, but their goblin-traits set them apart from Goblins and Men. They are described as hideous monsters with sallow skin and pointed ears, yellow, predatory eyes, and very sharp teeth. They have long, filthy hair and curved noses and typically speak in gravelly or grating voices.

Genetics and Reproduction

Orolks are not created through natural contact but were wrought from magic crossing Men and Goblins, thus creating their species. However, it is assumed that a male Orolk can produce offspring by mating with a she-Goblin.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Orolks are primarily carnivorous and hunt for their food. They are known to hunt Talking Beasts as well as dumb beasts and prefer foul water to fresh water. They only eat produce that has rotted and their main diet includes unsavory foods such as roasted rats, maggots cooked in stew, boiled toads, and bread filled with worms. Orolks are known man-eaters, often carrying off human prisoners and feasting on their bodies.

Additional Information

Geographic Origin and Distribution

The Orolks primarily inhabit the wasteland realm of Malgrond in the far west of Mirydain.

Average Intelligence

Orolks are intelligent creatures as they are able to build, forge, and fight with weapons. However, they do not make beautiful things as they are creatures of darkness and delight in war and plunder.

Civilization and Culture

History

The Orolks were formed when the Dark King of Malgrond first began building his monster army to make his war on the free lands of Mirydain. Although he had many of the monsters in Mirydain as his followers, he desired to forge a race of creatures that would make his army feared throughout the land. With this, the Dark King gathered all the men in his kingdom and had them bathed in a potion made from blood, flesh of corpses, and the bones of Goblins. When they came out, they had become half-human half-goblin monsters. But instead of feeling anger or grief, they accepted their new shapes. The Dark King named them Orolks and made them the chief warriors of his army.   Ever since then, the Orolks have made up the bulk of the Dark King's monster army. They have fought throughout the Two Centuries' War and have gained a fearsome reputation as plunderers, torturers, and warriors for the Dark King.
