Dionurrain

Dionurrain (Elvish: "Iron Guard") is a shield forged by the Dwarves of Isjernfeld as a gift for King Éodrinn of Gonnarch in accordance with the alliance made between Men and Dwarves. It became an heirloom of the Kings of Gonnarch along with the magic sword Anrilas and is currently used by David McKay, High King of the free lands of Mirydain.

Significance

The shield Dionurrain was fashioned by the Dwarves in the mountains of Isjernfeld for King Éodrinn, who formed an alliance with them in the eighth year of his reign. The Dwarves crafted the shield from the finest iron and with their knowledge of metalworking, they made it so hard that neither fire nor sword could not harm it. Éodrinn kept tradition by painting his ancestor’s coat of arms on the shield: a golden lion on a purple background, surrounded by seven crowns. The shield and the sword Anrilas were handed down to each generation until King Idileig died, and the sword and shield were hidden away with Glindor until David and Ginny came to Mirydain.
