Session 61 - May 14, 2020 Report
General Summary
1305 - 1st Moon of Spring (Dulyn) 3rd Day
- Outside of town, at the ogre camp site, all the ogres, half-ogres, oni, and owl bears are dead.
- Ari looks for magic items, finds two amongst the carts, finds a quiver of crossbow bolts and jug of some kind.
- Scarlet finds 1 pouches of gold (140GP total), 3 gold chalices (100g each) on the oni, who is blue, bald and with little horns and red eyes.
- Roth collects the head/claws of Oni, evidence of subjugation of owl bears/ogres, notices a symbol on the paw of the owl bear, circle with owl head and 2 bear paws. He then confirms the symbol on the back left paw of each owlbear.
- Merry asked Roth to put the polymorphed owl bear into turle in the bag of holding, Roth thinks it would cause issues with the bag being too small for the owlbear. Roth flies off with a tortoise (polymorphed owl bear) and drops it from a great height, killing it, before collecting the claws
- Scarlet searches the carts, finding ores, lumber and some cloth. Behind the cart are 9 bodies of humanoids, likely the merchants escorting the cargo.
- Roth sends Ollie (raven form) with a letter to the adventurer’s guild detailing the fights, what they found, and asking for carts to help retrieve the goods/bodies.
- Roth loots the ogre and half-ogre bodies and finds 15 GP, small hand mirror, shiny brass helmet, silver ring with moonstone, locket on a chain (broken), 10 shiny copper coins, glass apple, large bracelet etched w/ dancing bears.
- Party loads goods onto carts, two which are still usable, and leaves the bodies for a second trip.
- Merry/Roth go get the horses, who all 5 are thankfully still where you think them, and bring them back and hook them up to the two carts. Ari identifies the jug and crossbow bolts while Merry/Roth get the horses.
- Scarlet sees the jug, realized Fisk had one like it and checks to see if Fisk’s is among the bodies, he is not.
- It is now around 10 am and Roth brings Ollie back and reads the response letter. Two carts will meet the party on the road as soon as they can get there.
- Party spends a day moving goods/bodies to roadside, making two trips, with the cart. The carts from the city meet the party at the road side and they all camps overnight
- Watches: Ari, Roth, Roth, Scarlet (nothing happened) Also 4 people on the two carts.
- Next morning, the party load up carts all four carts and return to town
- Party Meet Annette at city entrance at dusk, who gives the stable owner a hard time, as she was not sure that he gave the party the adventures job rental rate.
- Stable owner returns 7 GP to party members so that he’s now charging the ‘guild rate’ of 8 GP for the horse rental.
- Talk with Annette about what happened
- * Head of Oni (She was not sure what it was) will have to research what it is.
- * She has seen that sign before on reports, on two prior owl bears, and she believes Owl bears being manufactured (5 total with your 3)
- * 25% finder’s fee for salvage from the trade party good recovered, will take time to get an exact amount.
- * 50 GP to each party for ogres, party split the gold recovered from camp (38 for Roth, Ari, Merry, 41 for Scarlett).
- At Dinner, the discussion about questions to ask of the beheaded Oni, as they will go to the temple of Oghma and ask the priestess to cast a spell to speak with deal.
- Roth practices the viol before sleeping.
- The Party retires for the night, having had a long day.
- Breakfast - Annette arrives and give 100 GP each to all for the Oni. Alchemy jug appears to be ownerless (bolts are owned) she will know more in a few days and return with the additional funds from the sale of goods.
- Party head to the Temple of Oghma, meets Priestess Seraphina who they ask about getting someone to cast a spell.
- Priestess Seraphina got a replacement to watch the main worship area, who takes us into the temple complex and to a small private area.
- She takes 10 min to cast Speak with Dead, and it cast 16 gold. Q&A session gets 5 questions.
- Who’s brand was on the owl bears? The Tamer
- Where did the owl bears come from? The mountains
- Why raid the trade route? Hungry for the flesh of young humans
- Which Mountains? Mountain of giants
- How to contact the tamer? Speak with the cloud
- Upon leaving the temple, Ari and Roth smell some amazing food, and head that way to get lunch.
- Merry sees some clockwork figures on sale, Merry buys a clockwork bird (24 gold).
- Ari buys empanadas and goes to sell two chalices (Scarlet keeps the third)
- Merry goes home, Roth goes to the library to research about illusion spells, Scarlett visits the glass blower Kent to look at the glass apple they found.
- Ari goes to the Thieves Guild and speaks with Vadalia, sells two chalices for 90 GP each. Each Ari, Merry and Roth get 60 gold.
- Ari asks Vadalia about the Tamer symbol (she doesn’t know) but will keep her eye out.
- Dinner, afterwards, the party views the bunny shark and doesn’t notice a tamer symbol, or any other symbol.
- Roth practices the viol privately. He is getting better.
- Scarlet attempts to be friendly with fishes/shark/etc. Does pretty well with the bunny shark and Philip.
- Ari goes to gamble, finds a silver-ante game and goes drinking/dancing with Scarlet instead at the Secluded Garden Inn - Middle Class .
- Merry sneaks out of town and attempts to travel to the fey wild and fails. This she thinks is the night that the flower of the Lady Nightengale was due to bloom.
- Merry tries to talk her way back into the north gate, but fails and forced to go to main gate to enter at the city at night.
- Magmabrew arrives at breakfast to ask the party to escort her to the Dwarven city of Blazenthrone. They would travel through mountains in the opposite direction from giants area, which Ari asked about. It is travel through the Mythril mountains.
- Magmabrew would need to depart in 3 weeks, and the trip will take 6-8 weeks to arrive, with 1-2 weeks in the city, and a spell which will transport them home instantaneously.
- Party contacts Baeshra to see if he’s ok/needs help, as it has been 7 days, and Magmabrew provided a sending stone to use.
- Baeshra replies that his tribe has been destroyed, and is going to solo kill the dragon for revenge.
- Party receives 80 GP per person for salvage for the goods recovered.
