Session 54 - March 5, 2020 Report

General Summary

World Date, Fall, Third Moon, Fisam (19th Day)

• The party returns to town around 4 pm, cures Merry with Lesser Restoration and takes the meat into the basement to store and to smoke (75 lbs of each)
• Baeshra then prepares the elf antlers for his fancy dress outfit. Roth then runs away.
• Roth (stealth 21) goes off alone to visit the Temple of the Raven Queen. They discuss the upcoming court opening, and she will work on an etiquette/dancing instructor. They discuss some ways in which magic works, confirming Roth's theory on the magic being rune based. Roth confirmed that magical disguises did not work in court, and the casting of magic was frowned upon, particularly spells which charm. Katrina mentioned the vault at the temple as a possible place to store Roth's bag of holding, as it is not allowed at court, but Roth does not necessarily want to leave it at home. Katrina mentions that Roth looks like an elf enough that most people will not notice he is a "different "type of elf.
• Roth then casts disguise self and looks like a tall dwarf, and goes to the Crocked Quill, and asks to see Vadalia, the shopkeeper is suspicious, but eventually tells the dwarf-looking Roth to have a seat. 15 min later, she shows up, and Vadalia starts to speak and dwarvish, Roth then drops the disguise and is told that the gems (blue amber) have been acquired (2100 gold worth), and a buyer for the potion will pay 3500 gold. A magic user is then called forth and confirms both the gems and the potion is as Roth said. The magician is paid 10 gold by each person, for confirmation. Vadalia then pays Roth 1400 gold and gets the gems, and she gets back 10 gold finders fee. She then tells Roth she has not heard of white haired, gray skinned dwarves (no duregar).
• Roth then heads to Korfel, at the Voodoo Doll, and sunset/end of day. Roth is addressed in dwarvish, and then he speaks to Korfel in elvish. Roth then returns to normal Roth disguise. Korfel then shows Roth the tattoos quickly before he has a dinner. He has very thin green vines traveling up all his fingers to wrap around the wrists. Korfel is not sure if the Fancy Mallard is still in port. He sends a message to Fenna, who confirms that she is still in port and will be having dinner at the Wandering Waves in a few hours.
• Roth then goes back to the house and has dinner with the rest of the party.
• The party then tries to convince Baeshra to make preparation on how to grow mushrooms in the basement, which he does that night. Ari attempts to use chopsticks, and fails, with Merry casting minor illusion to make extra food, then no food on Merry’s plate.
• The tieflings go off to the street to play music, each earning 7 silver, and Merry gets a note slipped into her pocket that no one else sees or knows about.
• Roth then goes to the The Wandering Waves Inn - Lower class to find Fenna to ask about a tattoo. She is eating dinner with two other gnomes. They finish dinner and the other gnomes leave. Roth asks for a room for the night, and then gets extra lights for the room, and Fenna gets a jug of water, clean cloth and heads up stairs. Tattoo starts around the forearm of each arm, with ring of runes (all beautifully calligraphy in the runic alphabet) Navy with slight shimmer, takes 5 hours. Roth pays 250 gold and is proficient in Arcana. Fenna stays the night in the room and crashes, Roth heads home about 2:30 am.

• Judith makes some deviled eggs for the party, which Olly steals one, and Merry is able to see something odd happen, but is not sure what happened.
• Olly then tries a Deviled Egg, asking if it will make her a devil, she tries it and likes it.
• Scarlett gets up early and goes to see Korfel, who identifies a potion for her, which costs her 10 gold, and she has a milky white vial, which is called Potion of Fantastic Feast, for 4 hours after your drink the potion, every thing tastes fantastic. She also ordered 2 potion of Cure Hangover to be picked up in about a week (they are 30 gold each, she will need to pay at time of pick up), there is a long list of people who have ordered them.
• The party has breakfast, tells Judith they will be back in time for dinner, and they go back out to find the spiders and mushrooms.
• On the 3 hour walk Ari uses her bag and summons a brown bear, who she then rides the rest of the way.
• The party gets to the cave system, finding two spiders on ‘guard duty’ which Roth and Baeshra quickly take care of. The party then goes inside after Ari casts dancing lights. The party fights some giant spiders and giant wolf spiders, and even two phase spiders, which they are able to kill, frighten, shadow blade or dagger/war hammer to death. Webbs were cast and the bear went poof into sparkles.
• Spiders on the ceiling and then phased out of this plane, Scarlett was able to find 5 large mushroom and 8 smaller mushroom. Baeshra found someone’s remains, 100 gold, a spell scroll (hypnotic pattern) and collected 9 little mushrooms. The phase spiders do not return, but the party was on high alert watching for them.
• The party left the cave, and went over the the shambling mound they killed the day before. After much discussion, Gertrude the elephant was summoned and she carried the remains of the monster back to the house, which they will use to grow the mushrooms on.
• The party walked as all of Gertrude’s capacity for carrying was taken up with the remains of the creature. Roth and Scarlett argue after Roth kills one of the “crabs” she summoned from the river. Baeshra eats it, and then Roth casts darkness, turns into a Raven and flys back to town, about an hour flight. He then short rests in his room.
• Back at the town gate, Merry tries to get the elephant into the city, rolling a 31 intimidation, which she bluffed the elephant and tree remains were special express delivery for the Duke. The guards sent 2 people to make sure they were not harrasssed on the way to the castle, only to be meet at the castle gate by the tabaxi that Merry went on one date with. Merry convinces him they have never met, and he tries to take her out to dinner. She turns him down.
• The trailing guards leave, and Merry takes the elephant and remains back to the house.
• Scarlett rage chops the tree into many pieces. Baeshra takes about 1/3 to the basement to cultivate mushrooms. The last 2/3 which were on the stoop where moved to the backyard by Ari, Scarlett and Merry.
• The party has dinner, and rests for the night, leveling up to 8!
