The Language of Muri
On the island of Waham, the Language of Muri used to be spoken by what scholars have since named the Muri people after the language where they are described.
The Muri language was part of a group of languages spoken on the islands south of Mirateia, scholars used to study them together with other southern Mirateian languages. It is now believed that the group of languages together with the Muri language is distinct and belongs to a group of languages that have long since died out with the island of Waham being one of the last places where it was spoken.
The language was actually known for a long time but since everyone who spoke it had been long dead, it took an expedition to the island in 654 by Varthurg Ruxmer who led the expedition that lasted 10 years and discovered several Muri villages and scripts. It was not until 8 years into the expedition when a group found a ruin of what is believed to be a palace and they found a wall containing a prayer in both Muri and Dehüni a language that was also extinct at the time, but there were people who could read Dehüni so by translating Muri into Dehüni and then into Common scholars were able to begin translating the texts they had found.
What we have learned from studying the language is that it belonged to a people that scholars have named after the language because they have yet to find a text with the name of what the people called themself, while the scholars call them Muri among the civilian population there is a legend that the people that used to live on the island were hunted to extinction by the Ancient Empire because they were Bloodhunters who would be hired as assassins and the leaders were scared of them so they hunted them down.
