Lake Mara
Lake Mara is a large lake located about a week's travel from Pearlhal
Several names have known the lake, and many have been forgotten over time, but the name believed to have had before it became Lake Mara was Lake Diro. According to scholars, it was named after a local deity that has since been forgotten.
When the Crienia arrived at the lake, the army leader named it after the patron goddess of the Crienia and their nation; the locals were still calling it Lake Diro at this point. Still, the deitiy had vanished a long time ago at this point, so when the Crienia arrived and gave the lake its new name, the name was quickly adapted when the locals found out that Mara were very active and according to the Crienia, she was very powerfull.
Fisheries
Fishing on the lake is very profitable, and the warm water allows the fish to grow to large sizes fast, so while the fishing is somewhat extensive on the lake, the fishing boats don't catch that many fish, with only a handful of fish being enough to support either a family or a small hamlet located along the coast.Geography
During its existence, Lake Mara has undergone several changes, with evidence that at one point in history, the lake was much larger than it is today. Some scholars argue that the lake at one point some thousand years ago was at least twice the size that it is today.
Underneath the lake is a volcanic hotspot that will ensure that the lake's water is typically warmer than other lakes, having a constant temperature of around 20 degrees on average.
