Hippodrome Festivus

Especially during the summer period, the Hippodrome Festivus is and have been, since the first building was constructed a popular place for the population of Pearlhal to come and relax.   On a typical day off, the citizens of Pearlhal will begin to walk towards the Hippodrome around midday where they would enter the arena and would for the next several hours be entertained by fights where either single or groups would fight in tournaments to earn money and fame, or chariot race.   The chariot race is the most popular form of entertainment among the population with up to 8 chariots racing at the same time and it was not uncommon for people to be killed during the race but for the larger of those tournaments there would be healers waiting to heal the wounded or dead.    One day every year the Hippodrome Festivus would be closed off and only citizens would be permitted entry, on this day new members of the Imperial Guard would be sworn in by the ruling emperor, this typically filled the Hippodrome.
