City of Thomaid

The City of Thomaid is a city in the  Empire of Dercia that is well known for its unusual way of life.
Around the empire and outside its border the city is known as the place where people go if they want high-quality treatment in form of entertainment or relaxation and the city can provide this in its marble buildings with casinos or bathhouses.

Before the city became a part of the growing Dercian kingdom, later empire, it was a well-off merchant city because of its location as the meeting point of several trade routes before they went out to the coast. After the city was taken at first not much changed other than a new ruler to pay taxes to, but after some time as Dercia took over more and more land, the trade routes began to change and after a few years the routes went around the city instead of into the city.
The city was in crisis and was looking for ways to survive and over time the gambling places and bathhouses began to advertise themself outside the city and invested their last gold in the project and as history shows, it paid off.

History

The City of Thomaid was at one point an independent city and enjoyed a relative amount of wealth, but during an early stage of the Unification war the city got conquered by Pearlhal and became a part of the growing kingdom.

The tourists that come to the city come to experience the entertainment the city can offer while also getting away from their normal lives for a moment.

Architecture

The city can boast about having some of the most beautiful structures in the empire, the buildings housing the casinos and baths, and the taverns and inns that the visitors live in are made out of white marble while the housing of the cities population lives in good solid houses that also shows the city's wealth off to visitors.

The city is located in the rolling hills a single day's ride from the coast of the sea between Dercia and Clifia.
