Adventures of Mirateia: One-shot

Goal

The goal for this one-shot is for the players to capture one of the leaders of the White legion in a discovered holdout.

Conflict

The group of players will be attacking a holdout for White legion in the south of the Empire of Dercia. previous a team of the Dercian army tried to capture the leader but ended up failing and the higher-ups called the party to finish the deal.

Setting

The setting for the adventure will be in the southern regions of Dercia, an area with tropical to subtropical temperatures and locations and the White Legions hideout is situated in a cave system with the water from a small secluded bay giving both the players and enemies options to use the sea route for getting in and out.  

Structure

The players will arrive at the base of the army unit that has been trying to wipe out the hideout and will be met with the unit commander were after who will be giving them the information but will not be happy about it since he will view it as a dishonour to hand over what he views an army operation to a bunch of adventures. the commander will tell them that if possible they should capture the leader alive so they can question the leader.   Having made their way to the cave system, the party will have the option of negotiating a surrender of the enemy or they can clear it out the same way the army unit has tried, during the clearing of the hideout the party will have the option of searching the caves for valuables and free the captive of the enemy, a local official who the Legion hoped could give them information on the area. If the party is fast enough they will be able to capture the leader of this White Legion hideout and depending on the skills of the negotiator, the leader will either be willing to go with them or will attack the party.   Coming out of the cave with the leader either alive or dead, the party will be able to hand over the leader to the army unit where the unit commander will give them a letter confirming the mission, whereafter they will be able to contact the adventuring guild and confirm that the job has been done and the party will be able to gather their reward next time they arrive in a city with a guild office.

High stakes

To help with the move-out of the Legions assets, the Legion has called in help from the headquarters, so if the players take too long the reinforcements will show up and the players will face an even higher number of enemies.   There is also the option of the White Legion killing their captive as a means to cut loose ends.

Deadline

The White Legion already know that their location is compromised and is in the process of moving out when the players arrive so if the players take too long with clearing out the area elements of the legion might manage to escape and set up a new hideout for the legion to operate in Dercia.
