The War of Bulls & Stallions - Part 1

This period of war interrupted the Age of Ennorren Overkings, ending it forever. A series of battles took place over the course of six years, before a development of such magnitude occurred to halt further need for the War of Bulls and Stallions to continue.

YEAR 1

Map Location #4.

‘Battle of Wide Gap’ – Here the war began, as Cascil and Molnury forces invaded Ennorren held lands. Tired of these forces’ antagonism, the defenders in this area counter-attack and this western region enters continual strife for the next six years.

Map location #1. & #2.

King Tailaq, is a poor administrator but a competent military mind. Seizing initiative the following season, he launches the ‘Horns of the Bull’ campaign. The twin prongs of this attack, swing from the Ennorren patrimony, west and east, into Plaffory and Wulsh regions respectively. The result is that the Plaffory forces are forced north into the forest-lands near Bygone . Wulsh too is displaced toward the southern peninsula of Lecianth. The Bull is victorious.

Map Location #9.

Trabberge is in control of the seas. To assist its allies against the King, it sends ships to re-supply and reinforce the Wulsh army. They put into port on House Tear’s patrimony. Their uninvited presence, seals Tear’s decision and they choose for the Crown. Trabberge’s blunder is compounded when raiders arrive off the coast. ‘The Battle of Tearswater’ occurs. This naval engagement sees fighting last four days. The final day is completed, when House Tear releases their small fleet into the battle at a critical juncture, turning the tide for the raiders. It is then revealed these raiders are related to the Tear house.

YEAR 2

Map Location #5.

‘Battle of Lowmanse Keep’ -- Cascil and House Altra receive word from the Trabberge of their defeat. It is decided that as the royal forces have the east for the moment and also threaten the centre, that a flanking campaign in the west is the best strategy. Supported by the second fleet of Trabberge, Cascil and allies ride west with their combined cavalry. They attack Ennorren controlled keeps and settlements. A defence at Lowmanse keep is organised hurriedly. The Stallion banners are too many and too momentous to be withstood. The victory for the noble houses is total.

YEAR 3

Map Location #8.

‘Battle of Bloodfields’ – More than a year passes. The two sides resupply and build their strength. Still unifying the west, the Cascil Allied Cavalry is stationed in Ridershome. At the same time, King Tailaq has sent a new army of horse south from Marchrise. This former city-state has been occupied and made over into the king’s seat of power, as High Seat is too contested by Trabberge naval forces. The two cavalries meet on the farmland near Ridershome. The fighting is the worst of the entire war. Deaths of both civilians, troops and horses number close to two-thirds of all in the area. In the end, The Bull banners withdraw north-east to the hills, while the forces under the banner of the Stallion return to Ridershome.
