Arc 2: Coin and Cruelty

Plot points/Scenes

Desdemona shows up to hash out the details of their arrangement. She will start at 3gp per person per day, but will go as high as 5gp. She expects the trip to take 10 days. She will have one cart and a small group of people with her. Desdemona offers to get them any info they need and point them in the direction of the job board. Allow the players to do some jobs, go shopping, ect. for 4 days. Make mentions of how weird it is that there are no homeless, beggars, or people with the wasting hanging around above ground. The morning of the fifth day: A woman gets thrown out the door of the Conservatoire of Enlightenment by a pair of armed guards. She is screaming and crying about her child; a little boy. She is begging them to give him back. She insists that he doesn't have the wasting. The guards tell her she's lucky Lord Ledova doesn't have her killed. She knows it's illegal to hide those with the wasting from the Blight Guard.   They approach or she goes and begs them for help. If they want a reward for doing this Desdemona will appear and offer to pay them double for the escort job if they rescue the boy. She seems very sad about the whole situation. She gives them some info she has gathered about where the people with wasting are being taken if they don't make it to the underground first.   Lord MorningBlight has been employed by the King for almost 30 years to find out how to stop the wasting (public knowledge). Lord MorningBlight is head of the CoE and conducts studies of those with the wasting. He is well known to be cruel and power-hungry. Everyone fears him.   Desdamona can tell you that a lot of the live-in help drink at the Steal Traveller. They might be able to tell you more. In the lowest level of the MorningBlight estate, there is a dungeon where Ledova supposedly has a lab. If you try to fight your way in you will end up dead.   If you investigate you can find out some of the habits of Ledova. He likes to have coffee in the Glass Horse inn and eatery. He takes a walk to a statue on the grounds sometimes and no one is allowed out in the gardens while he takes his walk. He sometimes will go into his study and then seemingly disappear.   Lord MorningBlight is holding a small gathering. It would be a good time to sneak in or you could try to be hired/disguised as the help.   The statue has a plaque on it that reads the setting sun. The statue is a tall human man in ornate armour with a sword in his hands. On the hilt of the sword is a sun with rays extending from it. One ray extends down the entire blade.
