The Mob War happened when Notch updated the server of Minecraftia to add mobs in. This happened around the 1.0 update, or better known as the day Minecraft was released. Before this, humanity had never needed to defend itself against a threat, so it took the world by storm when mobs spawned and attacked the humans.
