By the 32nd century, humanity had spread across the stars to join the galactic stage. Eight races divided into 20 major territories live together across over four hundred planets. The galaxy is not at peace, however. Human nations chafe at their borders, the Asteri Clans bicker among themselves, the Sikketh push religious conversion with aggressive zeal and the mysterious Tatitchnk are more active than ever before. Rebellions have sprung up in every region, putting pressure on every authority. The universe itself seems more hostile as well. Natural disasters have increased in frequency on many worlds, a plague has stricken mining outposts, and ships are vanishing without a trace.
