Zoran the Blue
Zoran the Blue is the semi-mythical founder of the Zoranite Order. A human female mage from antiquity that was known as one of the most powerful human mages to have ever lived.
Famous for being wise and kind hearted, she is said to have come into a land divided into warring states and unifying them all under one banner. The Empire and Order that Zoran built would stand until the The Great Upstart.
The legend as told from the Zoranite Order was that Zoran came from humble beginnings. He had managed to impress a travelling mage as a young girl, and earned herself a position as their apprentice.
There were various exploits she apparently accomplished over the years. Between finding long lost artifacts and banishing daemons, she was an accomplished hero.
Her more famous exploits came from her later years where she managed to convince a variety of feuding states and mages guilds to come together peacefully to form the Zoranite Order.
She spent the end of her life constructing the Tower of Wisdom.
Actual records of Zoran are hard to find. That there was a mage named Zoran is even questioned. The existence of the Zoranite Order was a testament to her existence.
There have been archaeological findings from the region that suggests a great deal of conflict in the area around the time he was said to have created a Zoranite Order. Some say this points towards the legendary conflicts that were supposed to be happening at that time. Others say it points towards her unification of the region not being as peaceful at the legends claim.
With the fall of the Zoranite Order and the rise of the Zoranite Republic the perception of Zoran has become a hotly contested subject.
Nationalists argue that she was a paragon of morality. An example of someone using their powers responsibly for the benefit of the people and a role model for all citizens.
Republicans argue that Zoran was a dictator who imposed her will on to the different peoples of the region. That she bound them all under a regime that the average person could not hope to stand against. That the fundamental problems that the Zoranite Order showed in their leadership could be traced back to her, and that she was a directly responsible party to generations of political and cultural repression.
