Utkiten
Settled in the rich soils of the Iterku Delta, Utkiten is one of the biggest cities in Ekhmenet, almost rivaling the capital Makhikten in size and prosperity.
Industry & Trade
Utkiten is a trade city first and foremost. Trade coming in and out of its many docks is just as much of the city’s lifeblood as the annual flooding of the Iterku River is to Ekhmenet as a whole. Ships coming in from other parts of the Ekhmeni coast, from various coastal ports of the Torithian Federation, and even occasionally from far away countries bring in a variety of both common and exotic goods from around the world.
Ekhmeni spices are one of the most common and profitable exports that comes through the city, but followed closely are the various textiles iconic to the region. Linens and materials made from native reeds are common, and are often sought after by foreigners for their unique textures and light weight optimal for wear in the hot temperatures of the Ekhmeni Desert. Silks are also highly sought after, though incredibly expensive.
Metals have become one of the most important imports flowing through the city, especially metals from the south mountains of southern Mezia and mythril mined from the Guatsuka Islands. Most of these metals, when not shipped from other parts of Ekhmenet, are usually imports from the Torithian Federation. Other imports from that country are typically the newer technologies developed there, ranging from parts for steam engines to newer guns and weaponry.
