Kashia
Kashia is a country occupying most of the westernmost major island in Merona. A predominantly Elvish kingdom, it likes to take pride in its ancient heritage stretching back to the First Era, however, in recent years, it has declined as a power, and is no longer considered a major player in international politics.
Structure
Kashia is an absolute monarchy, and although it has a legislative branch, that is partially elected, the king has, and often executes the ability to veto both legislators and legislation. As such, the legislature mainly exists to simply draft legislation that the king doesn't care enough about.
Public Agenda
Kashia's public agenda seems mainly to keep out of the way of Unomia and Doywood. Although secretly, it wishes that it could reassert control over the entire island, Kashia realizes that it is an unrealistic goal. Kashia seems to be devolving into a neutral country, with about the same status as Mythelia, something that its people are angry about, but that its government is powerless to help.
History
Kashia can trace its roots back to the Duchy of Kashia back when Merona was united. It was one of the many separate regions of the Golden Kingdom to break away during the War for the Eternal Flame at the end of the First Era, in fact, Ancient Kashia had managed to take large parts of Unomia, including the capital city of Unoma before warlords drove them out.
At the beginning of the Second Era, Kashia was the dominant political force, since it was the only nation in any state to hold political leverage, however it lost most of its power when Malkis successfully conquered the northern half of Unomia, and began exerting his own political influence. Kashia was most famously defeated by Malkis when Kashia and Doywood both attempted to invade Malkis to curb its political influence. Malkis soundly defeated them, and although Kashia resisted the counter invasion, Elf's Landing was sacked and Kashia was forced to make peace.
During the Hvedran invasion at the end of the Second Era, Kashia fell faster than Malkis, with all of Kashia being occupied by Hvedran forces in only 1 year. However, throughout the Third Era several resistance movements would establish rebel states around Kashia, and although they were all eventually invaded and taken down, the most successful of these managed to establish sovereign governance for 57 years.
Kashia was established at the end of the Third Era, when Doywood and Dwarven forces entered into what is nowadays Mythelia, and with the help of Elvish rebels, pushed the Hvedra out of Kashia. Although Kashia tried to gain the southern portion of the isle, it remained under strict Dwarven occupation, and the Dwarves did not let Kashia exert political influence there. It was eventually officially given to the Dwarves as payment for helping with the defeat of the Hvedra by Unomia, much to Kashia's dismay.
In the first 100 years of the Fourth Era, Kashia was in a three way political battle with Doywood and Unomia to become the dominant power in the region. However, Kashia saw itself being beaten by the growing Unomia, and the ancient Doywood. In a last ditch attempt to not be sidelined by the two powers, Kashia invaded Mythelia in 257 FoE, thus kicking off the Great War. Doywood sprung to Kashia's aid, seeing it as an opportunity to curb Unomia's growing power, and the recently established Fallnar Republic also sided with Kashia, to spite their former rulers.
Due to disagreements with Doywood and Fallnar, as well as internal pressure to end the war, late into the war, Kashia switched sides to Unomia and helped bring the war to an end. Kashia gained little from the war, and was mostly sidelined during negotiations due to them playing both sides. Mythelia was made an independent nation, with borders set almost exclusively by Unomia.
Territories
Kashia holds about 2/3 of the territory on the westernmost main island in Merona, the remainder being owned by Mythelia. It's eastern shore is heavily protected from invasion, as on the southern end you have a large mountain range, while on the northern end dense forests. The only two accesses to the inner part of Kashia from the eastern coast is a pass through the mountains that runs along the border between Kashia and Mythelia. The pass is guarded by the Alfarten Keep, which is an impressive fortress that spans the entire width of the pass. The other option is a gap in between the northern end of the mountains and the southern tip of the forest, which is likewise guarded by Fort Anton, an equally impressive fortress that Kashia ensures is also upkept.
Military
Kashia's military is always upkept, and the nation would like its citizens to view it more as the army formed during the War for the Eternal Flame; a mighty and threatening military that can destroy and invade any land. However in reality, it is mostly made up of draftees, and although Kashia ensures they are professionally trained, their numbers do not reflect those of a powerful military. Many in Kashia have accepted that their country will not be a great superpower, and thus do not actively support a powerful military. As such, Kashia's military, although powerful enough to fight a war, is not of the same caliber as the armies of Unomia or Doywood.
Foreign Relations
Kashia holds neutral relations with most countries, seeming mostly to just stay out of the limelight of major international affairs. However, these neutral feelings are only official, as it in truth holds a great disdain for Mythelia, although it does not actually show its animosity towards its southern neighbour so as to not get on Unomia's bad side.
Trade & Transport
Kashia has good trade relations with most of Merona, although it is less strong with Fallnar since Kashian goods mainly reach Fallnar by either Doywood or Opallot. It has a strong merchant class, who show an impressive fleet for trade. Transportation in Kashia is usually safe, secure, and relatively quick, although setbacks can be found when traveling to other countries. Kashian boat transport is cheap compared to the rest of Merona, especially to the Broken Frontier.

Currency
The official currency of Kashia is the Golden Arrow, a gold coin that has the king's head stamped on one side, and an arrow on the other. The Golden Arrow can also be divided into 10 Silver Moons, or 100 Copper Oaks.
Major Exports
Kashia's main trade export is its agriculture, since it is the best place for it other than Doywood. It sells much of its wares to Mythelia and Opallot, who do not have the territory for large scale agriculture. As well, Kashia also exports lumber from its dense forests, and seafood from the western shores, which is mainly sold to wealthy people in Unomia and Opallot as fine dining.
Major Imports
Kashia imports most of its military supplies from Unomia, and it also imports metals from the Dwarves via Mythelia. Doywood supplies most of Kashia's luxury goods, however the Dwarven colonies in the Broken Frontier also supply many.
Legislative Body
The legislative body is known as the Senate, and is unilateral. Representatives are appointed based on population by the governors of various provinces, and although the method of appointing Senators varies by province, Senators are usually elected. The king can always veto any Senator's appointment, a power which is executed often.
The Senate does have the power to draft official legislation, however the king has the power to veto any law that is passed by the Senate, as well as oversee the Senate at any time.
There is no election cycle for the Senate, instead, Senators serve until they either die, resign, or are removed by their governor or the king, at which point the district must appoint a new Senator.
Judicial Body
Civil disputes throughout Kashia are settled by a series of courts. When someone has a civil dispute with another citizen, they can file their grievance with the court, who then has total control over the process. The court may choose to call witnesses and have either side present evidence, which is usually the case. However courts can, and have been known to simply rule immediately, without either side presenting anything, with their ruling being based on the grievance files alone.
The king can always overturn any judicial decision, however he executes this power rarely, and only when the dispute concerns him.
For criminal cases, provincial laws vary, however for violation of statewide laws, a series of federal judges adjudicate as they see fit, while the king has the final say in all sentencings.
Executive Body
The King is the full and sole director of the executive branch of Kashia. He may appoint ministers at his behest to assist with the administering of the state, however the king has final and absolute say over any decisions

Peace
Kashia holds Unomia in neutrality, because although Unomia refused Kashia's claim to Mythelia, Unomia also saved Kashia from insolvency during the Great War.
Peace
Kashia holds relatively good relations with Doywood, although they are not friends. Kashia will not backup Doywood in the case of a war, despite Doywood's wishes. However, the two countries hold trade well enough, and Doywood is an essential supplier of exotic seafood to the Kashian elite
Friendly
Kashia and Opallot are good trade partners, and hold good relations with each other. Neither perceives the other as a threat, and believe that the best way to further their own agendas are to continue friendly trade with the other
