Organons Court

Purpose / Function

To become a templar or paladin of the order of justice any aspirant has to undergo several ever more difficult challenges. Examples include bringing the heads of three criminals to Mount Arlas, aiding someone in need or emerging victorious in a battle in Organons court, the massive arena and the center of the town on top of Mount Arlas.
Those testing fights are not lethal in nature, the goal is only to knock your enemy unconscious. In most cases those fights are of purely ceremonial nature, pitting the soon-to-be templar or paladin against a mindless minion of evil, like a zombie or skeleton, which should not pose any threat to the contestant. To smite an enemy of justice and righteousness before the paragons of the order is the final step in one's testing.
The arena is also used to crown the new grandmaster of the order or ritually executing those criminals or monsters brought to Mount Arlas to face judgment. If the criminal is a creature of honor or law, it is allowed a fight to the death instead of being executed. If the criminal emerges victoriously its death sentence is revoked and it serves a life sentence.

Alterations

The original arena built-in 1143 could only hold four hundred spectators. Although back then this was considered overkill, as the order only had one hundred sixty members. However, as the order quickly grew the arena was expanded six times in subsequent centuries. Today the arena can hold around four thousand spectators, not enough for all citizens of Mount Arlas, but enough to fit all members of the order.
Besides the necessary size expansion, multiple alterations have been made to enhance the arenas' beauty. The original wooden structure has been rebuilt with marble, the underground expanded to allow more elaborate executions and ceremonies.

Architecture

The arena is a marble circle on the outside. The outer wall is twenty meters high, adorned with elaborate carvings and silver ornaments. There is one gate for spectators, showing iconography of the order. The inside is built according to the style of the giants, emphasizing clean and strong shapes, adorned with carvings and decorative gems.
The back of the arena features an obelisk eighty meters high, which features the names of all members of the Order of Justice. It provides an easily viewable landmark which can be used to identify the town from afar.
