Welda’s Ruthless Plague
Ruthless Plague is a devastating spell able to cause an epidemic on a battlefield. It is designed to damage large crowds in a short period of time.
Effect
Target creature makes a Constitution saving throw. On failed save, the target suffers 2d4 poison damage or half as much on successful save (minimum of 1). In case of the failed save, starting from the target's next turn, the target takes 1d4 poison damage at the end of each of their turn until the spell is dropped. While the target is under this effect, any creature in 5 feet of it not already under the effect takes a constitution saving throw at the start of their turn. On a failed save, they will also be affected by the spell. The spell does not affect constructs.
A creature that has been under a spell’s effect or has succeeded the saving throw against it can’t be affected by it again for 24 hours.
At Higher Levels: Spell damage changes in different casting levels in the following ways: at the 4th level, initial damage turns to 2d6 and secondary to 1d6, at 6th level to 4d4 and secondary to 2d4, and on 8th level to 4d6 and secondary to 2d6.
Manifestation
Sickly, hissing and buzzing cloud of gas swirls around the caster before flying towards the target, taking a form of a swarm of thousands of ethereal skeletal rats to corrupt their victim. Air fills with a smell of rot.
Discovery
Silver Shore Academy of Magi. It is only available to her top students, considering the worrying implications of this spell going array in the wrong place at the wrong time.
The spell was created as part of Welda's attempts to further understanding of magical diseases.
Now I want to see Welda herself!!
