Linthel Kostith

Palace

Stub

Linthel Kostith is a small palace in Netehdrez, currently up for sale. Palace is owned by the House Driftripple, and is in somewhat disrepair.

In the game, May'chalithra Palefury has shown interest towards purchasing the palace from the Driftripples.

Purpose / Function

In its current form, Linthel Kostith is meant as a home for a great house, but due to changing family politics, the palace has remained almost empty for a good while, only lived by few servants and occasional family member that has a project in town.

The usage of the original building is speculated, as the building was raided and mostly wiped clean somewhere in the early years of Age of Scars.

Alterations

Evidence suggest, that not only the building use to be shaped like a spider, it used to have tunnel network around it, but it is believed it has long since collapsed. Some of the old tunnels might still be there, though. It is also known that more buildings used to stand on this spot, including 2 watchtowers, now razed to the ground.

Architecture

Due to its unique design, Linthel Kostith is quite an eye catcher or would be, if one could see it behind the over grown garden. The palace combines newer architecture with the old lllothian style, giving it its very own personality.

Paace is made from polished stones, coloration of the stones varying slightly. Older parts of the building are generally more darker than the newer parts, though only slightly.

History

The original structures of the building are dated somewhere 200-400 years before The Cracking. This is an estimation based on old maps of the city of that era, which have managed to survive.

Originally, the oldest parts of the structure were made in the shape of a spider, and it seems to have worked as some kind of public or formal building. The found pieces of history and records suggest the building was not religious, but possibly a headquarters of some kind of military headquarters or maybe a training centre.

Building was badly damaged and raided somewhere in early years of Age of Scars, from unconfirmed reason. The structure was then claimed by one of the local Great Houses but remained as a ruin for years. After changing hands several times, structure ended up to House Driftripple in 1876 AoS. The family built the current palace on top of the old ruins, that are now the foundation of the building. They named their new home as Linthel Kostith.

The palace reached its largest size during the times Drifftripples where part of the Great Matron Council of Silver Shore, but as the family's status started to decline, palace stopped growing as well.

As Silver Shore Island became part of the Empire of Islenor, Mori'tarna was closed to outside world and Driftripple family started to put their efforts towards maintaining lands they owned, getting great wealth through agriculture. This made the family spent more time outside the city and in their villa, making the palace empty and less maintained. These days the palace is quite a mess, and in need of renovation.
