Drow and some other Underdark species have domesticated Glass Beetles as pets to keep small pests away as well as as a food source. Both adult beetles and their eggs are edible, and more affordable than some other beasts.

Body Tint, Colouring and Marking

Most recognizable feature of Glass Beetle is their shell, that is see-through. Most commonly this shell is in shades of blue and green, but other variations are possible. It reflects light beautifully and protects the beetle from harm.

Beetle used by drow to kill pests (similar how people in surface use cats) and sometimes also eaten. Because of their beautiful shells they make nice looking pets.
