Anakuuxon Language in Melyria | World Anvil

Anakuuxon

Anakuuxon is an ancient language of merfolk species, Anakikupa, who had tentacles instead of fins. While these creatures are no longer found in Mirror's Deep, out of ruins of their ancient city's under the Drannor Dalsein some of their writing have been found.

Known idioms

When researching for Anakuuxon, scholars have managed to find several curious idioms, that tell about the life of the octopus-people. These findings have excited the researcher community. Found idioms include:
Air-headed
Where in common "air-heads" are considered little ditzy, for anakikupa, it means suicidal and foolhardy. These merfolks can only carry on limited time out of the water, so air is considered by them to be "poisonous".
Blue-blood, red-blood
No, they aren't speaking of royalty, they are referring to their kind - the blood of the speakers was blue like one of octopus, and as such, it is useful differentiation between different types of people. Sometimes also form of mockery.
Seahorse
Particularly caring fathers among speakers were lovingly called seahorses, as seahorse males take care of the young.
Wrapped too tight, a wrap
