The Rose Blooms

The Rose Blooms

    The rose blooms
The days grow long
The fragrant blossom
The queen of flowers
Over the garden, her watch extends
Until the sun, to the east, descends

The days grow long
The summer breeze
Rustles the leaves
And the maid’s long hair
Over the garden, her eye does see
The hand that tends it so carefully

The queen, the rose
So graceful and sweet
Beware the thorns
Which hide underneath
Over the garden, she reigns supreme
Dawn, dusk, and all in between

The rose still blooms
As autumn descends
The leaves, they fall
As summer ends
Over the garden, the cold does creep
Putting the queen and her court to sleep

The rose sleeps
And no longer blooms
The chill sets in
The days grow short
Over the garden, the frost does spread
Covering the flowers asleep in their beds

Waiting for summer
The rose will sleep
At spring’s first kiss
Her court awakes
Over the garden, they will yearn
For the day the rose, their queen, returns

Summer returns
The rose blooms
The days grow longer
The skies are clear
Over the garden, her watch extends
Until the sun, to the east, descends
