Age of Expansion

After the Dwarven alliance was forged, the remaining tribes of Elves and Men were quickly brought to heel. As the Cradle of the Empire held no more lands to concur, so the Empire turned it's eyes to the sea, and with the help of the Sea Elves of the southern coasts the Empire created the Expeditionary Force with a fleet of ships at their command they set forth in every direction through the seas in search of new lands to spread civilization to the savage world. Thus began the Age of Expansion, a period filled with the exploits of great explorers and diplomats, bringing news of our glorious Empire to all corners of the known world. While some of these explorers, like Anton Severus Toleski Andarahn first of his name as he liked to be stylized in his early reports of his adventures, were never heard from again likely falling victim to the savagery of the uncivilized world, many others reported back with news of tribes of valiant warriors ripe for Legion conquest, and others still came home bearing delegates from newly forged alliances eager to see the glory of Empire first hand. One of the most noteworthy of these noble houses was the Pinkhairenson's of Midglade, when Imperial explorers first made landfall they were greeted with mirth and merriment, to quote the report from sent back to Imperial command "The Rock Gnomes are an interesting bunch of people, they seem to look for any reason to throw a festival to showcase their latest tinkerings, King Uther Pinkhairenson has expressed an eager desire to lead a Legion into battle against a Tribe of Goliath barbarians to the East and will happily bend the knee in exchange for his title being retained and Imperial support in this endeavor." and so the Pinkhairenson's long history of commanders within the Legion began, as did the Eastmarch and relocation of the capitol overseas to oversee the conquest. The Rock Gnomes mechanical brilliance as combined with Imperial magic led to the creation of the Skyships that now keep the exploration and trade of the Empire running like clockwork, it leaves one to wonder how long it will be before the mix of magic and machinery will become a study in and of itself.
