Nyberg Yyah

Nyberg Yyah (/nɯbɜʀɢ ɯujɐx/) was an influential molecular xenobiologist most well known for writing The Similarity Conundrum. The Nyberg Institute was founded by and is named after her.

Physical Description

Identifying Characteristics

As is common with Yytsuuri, Nyberg had several cybernetic implants, mostly cosmetic. Besides cosmetics, her left lower arm was replaced by a cybernetic prosthesis with stabilizers, enhanced fine motor control, microgram scales and precise dosage equipment. Unlike many Yytsuuri, she did not have a breathing assistance implant, preferring instead to breathe through a simple mask.   Nyberg typically dyed her face patterning red and wore her hair in a short mohawk-style haircut.

Apparel & Accessories

Nyberg was known for generally avoiding cliches such as laboratory wear whenever possible. She typically wore dark gray or black utilitarian clothing made from protective textiles under a brightly colored coat in public.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Nyberg is most well known for The Similarity Conundrum, but was also responsible for numerous other advances in xenobiology and contributed to various interdisciplinary research efforts. She pioneered molecular synthesis techniques now commonly used to rapidly test new medicines for effectiveness and compatibility with different species in a controlled manner.   Nyberg was also the founder of the Interdisciplinary Xenoscience Center, now known as the Nyberg Institute. The Xenoscience center was one of the first research institutions in the UDSA  to heavily encourage cooperative research projects and separate funding responsibilities from research work, leading to an extraordinary number of influential publications in a short span of time.

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Nyberg is recorded to have said she considered it her life's work to understand the cause of the similarities between sentient species. Unfortunately, not much progress has been made in this question even to this day.
I think that to truly understand sentience and consciousness, [...] we need to understand first how sentient life arises, and why we are all so similar. Right now, we are like engineers trying to build a c+ drive without understanding the structure of spacetime―like trying to build a skyscraper without realizing that we are building on a foundation of loose sand.
