Heavy Armor Class D Enclosed Suit
The HADES (Heavy Armor Class D Enclosed Suit) is a vacuum-capable heavy powered armor suit developed and used by Offworld Hydrocarbons and Blackwell Security.
Environmental Conditions
The HADES is designed for operation in harsh environments and has an operational external temperature from near absolute zero up to a sustained 400°C or a short-term peak of up to 500°C. The suit can operate in vacuum and at high pressures. The interior of the suit is fully sealed and has a self-contained life support system. The design is partially descended from EVA suits used in hydrocarbon mining operations on Titan.Modularity
Depending on application, HADES suits can be outfitted with various modules such as maneuvering thrusters and magnetic boots for operation in space or buoyancy control tanks for nautical operations. Weapon and utility mounts can also be added in multiple places. Using these modules, the suits can be adapted to applications as varied as hydrocarbon ice mining operations and combat operation on Class Y planets.Availability and Use
HADES units are sold to select customers only, but occasionally units appear on black markets. Variants customized for combat use are not sold at all and only used by Blackwell Security. Offworld themselves use HADES for most of their remaining hydrocarbon mining operations, but in actuality the primary purpose of the suits is their use by Blackwell for securing the facilities of Offworld and various child companies which are in harsh environmental conditions. They are allegedly used as a worker suppression measure in some of the more controversial locations of Offworld Hydrocarbons.
