Archis, Empire of

The Empire of Archis (45-872) is, to date, the longest uninterrupted nation in Megalodis, spanning 827 years from establishment to downfall; as well as the longest uninterrupted male line inheriting the throne.

History

Archis started out when the Continuation 11 probe arrived the First Civilization in the year 45, and orbited Selphus VIII. Hank Cinnaberg, the philosopher of the crew, was chosen as the de facto leader of the small colony, and mostly as a joke, called himself Emperor. He retired from administrative duties in year 61, just as the humans born from incubation were coming of age, and fellow researcher and second-in-command Eric Sunder took control of the colony.
In the year 82, a group of people were dissatisfied about how Sunder continuously sent exploration crews out, depleting the colony of resources; both Hank Cinnaberg and Eric Sunder was assasinated, and the rebels created what was later called Chebiah. The exploration crew at the time, which was comprised of a number of Cinnabergs and Sunders, could not return to Selphus, decided to stay in the research station in Ginnaen, and adopted the name Archis, from the Latin prefix "arch-". Willis, son of the late Hank Cinnaberg, declared himself Second Emperor in a similar fashion to his father, wrote the Constitution, in which was based off an Old World artifact named Common Law. It would later become the integral part of keeping Archis politically stable.
It was decreed in the first chapter that "the position of the highest monarch, namely the Emperor, of Archis, can only be held by the offspring of the deceased Emperor, and has to be a male with the last name Cinnaberg", and right after that stating in cases where the current Emperor "is inept at leading the Empire of Archis, a Sunder will have the right to take the throne without bloodshed". With the proximity of the two families, the Cinnabergs kept a tradition of marrying Sunders whenever possible, in order to keep the bloodline "pure"; out of the 30 monarchs (not counting the First Emperor) in the Cinnaberg dynasty, 28 have a Sunder as their queen.
In the year 415, the Emperor XIV declared war on the ailing First Empire of Och; it is the first major war that Archis has ever participated in. More than 4 million people volunteered, and by the end, with the Ochean Empire falling into the hands of rebels, the Archii People's Space Force is recognized to be the second most efficient military force, behind the Sagittarius State Army.
More than once over the span of 800 years have Sunders stepped in to stop a political crisis in the nation, before relinquishing power back to the Cinnabergs. However in 808, when Emperor XXXI ascended to power, he was always with concubines and ignored politics; the people signed a petition to beg him to abdicate, however, he refused to and executed the people who disagreed with him, including the Emperor's Left Hand, Victor Sunder. The empress, Jane Sunder, then led a rebellion to overthrow the Cinnaberg monarchy, and within four years, Ginnaen was liberated, as the Emperor committed suicide.
Following the Sunder Uprising, Empress Jane selected son of the late Victor, Carl Sunder to ascend to the throne. Emperor Carl became the first emperor to have a regnal name in Archis, and the first official Emperor of the Sunder dynasty. He initiated a series of political reformations among attempts to rebuild the failed economy, but did not succeed.
In 872, Emperor Henry, along with his declining Empire of Archis, was invited to join the Union of Selphus created from a strong Kingdom of Boriac, with the threat of death and destruction of his country in the case of not complying. Henry grudgingly accepted the offer, and on Day 108, he delivered his speech of abdication, followed by a ceremony to officially end the history of the nation. Henry Sunder was given the post of the Governor of Mostri the day after.
