Cooking in Wilder Ways, by Abel Hevel
Written by Abel Hevel in 543:Awakening, Cooking in the Wilder Ways was one of the more successful books popular during the Ghennan acclimation of the Wilder people. During this period many works of art romanticizing the Wilder lifestyle and people was published by both Ghennans and Wilder. Some were works demonizing, some romanticizing, others an attempt by the people themselves to keep their unique cultural heritage alive during the shift.

Historical Details
Background
In 521:Awakening, the reigning lord of Irondale, Lord Wolfrum Spire, set out to conquer the Wilder folk in the moor and forests surrounding Irondale. As Ghennan expansion swallowed up more and more Wilder tribes and Wilder territory, its people began to meld into Ghennan society. This transition wasn't always smooth. There was confrontations over rights, a rebellion on the loss of Wilder culture under Ghennan rule, plays, publications, stories and slander against both sides. During this period Abel Hevel, a elder Wilder man attempting to keep Wilder culture alive, while introducing it to wider world his clan was now encountering, wrote a collection of popular recipes in the Wilder style. While a cookbook in form, Cooking in Wilder Ways also contained pieces of lore about certain celebratory traditions, a bit about the hunting lifestyle, and the nature of the tribes to eat in large group meals.
History
A few years after its publication had spread more wildly, Wilder tensions began to relax. Similar publications about the nature and history of the Wilder people became popular, and romantic dramas were written by somewhat ignorant authors about dashing barbarians, and honorable savages. True or not, the slow romantisizing of Wilder culture starts with this simple cookbook.
Public Reaction
This benign glimpse into the ins and out of Wilder life both started a fad for Wilder cooking, and alighted the imagination of the populous. Through the artistic license of the Ghennan elite, and modest, humble beginnings of understanding offered by Cooking in Wilder Ways, the peoples eventually integrated into the Ghennan state.
Legacy
Cooking in Wilder Ways is still a staple in Ghennan society, and no self respecting kitchen is without it. Wilder meals, and particular some celebratory ones, have been added to native practices, and festivals celebrating Wilder cooking and culture are popular with inhabitants.
