Materia

The world of Materia is a world of many unique cultures and races, from the forever-raining islands of the Grey Sea to the dark forests and tundras of Strolkonon. Each culture is truly a culture with its own unique quirks and identity.   The magic of Materia is inspired by pieces like My Hero Academia, RWBY, One Piece, and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. One's connection to the spirit world, and the ability to do one's own "Ideal Magic" is unlocked via a ritual known as the "Rite of Kith", or simply the Rite, that varies depending on culture, but all involve the ingestion of a hallucinogenic brew known as Spiritbrew, made of various ingredients found only in places rich in magical essence. This rite was invented by the in-universe equivalent of Alexander the Great and Genghis Khan, who conquered the entire known world with a nomadic army using this grand invention.   The world of Materia is unique among fantasy realms, in that it has a truly weighty past, present, and future. Most fantasy worlds stick to a medieval stasis, causing the world to be near identical to when it was ten thousand years ago, but in Materia, the actions of the characters depicted within its stories have a tangible cause and effect within the greater timeline, both direct and indirect, and progress is an ever-turning wheel in the river of history.
