The Sky Chains
The Sky Chains are a jewelry set existing out of a triple-chain necklace and two chainmail-bracers. They have been made with a mix of Cloudstone and pure silver, and decorated with blue topaz gemstones.
The Sky Chains are practically considered a myth, as they have only shown up throughout history four times. Yet their beauty have kept them known for a long time, even if the names of their owners have long been forgotten.
History
Made over eight centuries ago, the Sky Chains were created by an Empire that ruled the Disk and many other sky islands. This empire ruled the Disk for over eighty years, before even there their influence started deteriorating. It was at that point that their treasury was looted by Smokes Cloudkicker, and according to rumors the Sky Chains were stolen as well. While a small armada chased Cloudkicker, they fled into the Great Nothing with their loot, discovering the Basin. Cloudkicker sold off most of the loot, but secretly kept the Sky Chains for several decades. They engraved the chains with logbooks about locations and abilities. After the disappearance of Cloudkicker, it was well over two centuries before the Sky Chains showed up again, in the hands of a merchant considering himself worthy of being an emperor. A nearby Kingdom had him captured and executed, seizing the chains for themselves. When sixteen years later the Kingdom burned, the chains disappeared again. Similar events repeated over a century later.Current Owner
In recent years, the Sky Chains resurfaced in the hands of the Izatt Empire. Their leading royalty claims to have descended from the Empire that originally created the Sky Chains, and their possession of it was evidence of their destiny to unify all Sky Islands. Despite these claims, they have not even dared state what the name of the original empire supposedly was. Shortly after they stopped showing off the Sky Chains, claiming them to be too precious to endanger. In reality, one of their princes discovered and decoded the engravings. He used the transcribed knowledge to master his own Thread Walker abilities, and hatched a plan to rebel. He stole the Sky Chains, stole a Sky Ship, and sailed away to find and join the Gray Sails. Since then he has sailed the skies with his crew.
Raw materials & Components
The necklace is a triple-chainlink necklace, decorated with blue topaz gemstones. The bracers each exist out of two bracelets connected by chainmail, with chains stretching to three rings per bracer. Bracelets and rings are all decorated with blue topaz gemstones.
The Sky Chains are made from pure silver, which was molten then mixed with crushed Cloudstone. The resulting specks ended up giving the chains a soft-blue glitter. It also makes the set incredibly light, capable of floating when untethered.
