Find a silver line Plot in Master of the Wind | World Anvil

Find a silver line

To sail rather than to be anchored

Within a decaying sky of islands and ships, kingdoms and empires rise and fall. Within one of those empires, a young prince found himself tasked to decipher a worthless relic. When he actually succeeded and found valuable information, he could have used this to fight in the succession. Instead, he studied and discovered abilities and information he could use. So he plotted, and ran away.   Within that same empire, an apprentice learned secrets from a priest. She could have sold out the priest, or used what she had taught her to climb the ranks. With the powers she developed, she could have become a useful weapon in her motherisle's arsenal. Instead she found a young prince, and with their combined strengths, they managed to run away.   With their stolen ship and treasure, the two sailed the skies, venturing far and wide. Their crew grew as did their abilities, and they made a decent living as they gathered information and continued their plotting. They had found a goal to work towards, slowly and steadily and sneakily. Only a few associates knew what they were up to, and joined forces where needed, as time went by.

To flee rather than to be chained

Two twin sisters were said to be cursed. Their names were used as profanity, their presence barely tolerated, yet they were also seen as a useful tool. So they ran, and snuck on board of a vessel, hoping to stowaway and reach another port, an island to be free. Yet a Captain that can't tell the weight of their own ship, is no Captain at all. And so they were caught, but not sold out, instead they were smuggled out as if they were contraband.   And so the twins were recruited, joining the crew of the Quiet Knave as it sailed from sky island to sky island. Folly and Whimsy they were, and so they were named. And they learned from their Captain and their Pilot, both their skills and their strange abilities. As time went by, they grew, stronger, smarter, excited to see more of the endless Sea of Clouds. Yet also realising there was a method to the madness of their teachers.

One cannot sail and hide forever

As time goes by, people age, islands fall, kingdoms rise, blood is spilled. No sky island is safe from the inevitable decay of life. An ambitious empire grows stronger, despite losing the relic they used as just cause for their conquests. A storm rages quietly, hiding both its dangers and its secrets. And a crew that has trained its skills, will have to put them to the test eventually.   Knowledge is power, power corrupts, but it also attracts others that wish to either steal or crush it. As the prince and the apprentice travel the skies with their crew, their plans will eventually be revealed and lead to danger. And worst of all, at some point they must return to the point where it all began. Behind enemy lines, in the heart of danger, lies the last piece they need for the solution they have crafted.
