Vankti

"When our peoples meet there will be joyous cheers in the streets of all the towns and villages of mankind, for their lost sons will have been found."
The Prodigals
The Vankti are a semi-mythical human culture which has been lost to the known world since the decades following the great invasions. The widespread references to the Vankti in pre-invasion mythology and alleged references within surviving elven historical documents has captured the imagination of the remaining human nations. Scholars and nobility alike rigrously debate the nature of the group as well as their fate. Frustratingly, the Demian and Kosva oral traditions, the two richest in mention of the Vankti, disagree on their role in the Great invasions, with the Demian stories generally telling of the group sailing east and the Kosva stories saying they sailed west. In fact, The Last Summer of Learbof, a Demian document codifying an older legend, explicitly mentions the Vankti as "marching forth with our brothers the Kosva to bring death to the elves."   The mysterious origins and fate of the Vankti have caused them to develop a special place within the imagination of Demian and Kosva societies. Both cultures have developed a popular understanding that the Vankti survived their role in the Great Invasions and even went on to conquer some yet-unknown land from an unknown elven culture. This idea has lead to the Vankti being venerated as being an honor-bound and dutiful people who in many ways have morphed into both cultures' idealized version of themselves.
