Royalists and Loyalists

"This game relies on teamwork and memory, luck has little to do with it so you don't want to gamble on this one unless you're sure of your own skill."~A Drunk's Guide to Gambling
Royalist and Loyalists is a card game that is played with two teams of at least two players each. Players of this game rely on memory and teamwork as well as creativity to achieve victory, making it a popular game to play among friends but not very popular in gambling houses.

History

Royalists and Loyalists was originally developed as a propaganda piece by soldiers of the Freeholds Alliance during the Freehold's Rebellion. The name intentionally cast the royalists as being disloyal to Demian traditions and the game-play is inspired by remembering and tarnishing old traditions. Demian mercenaries spread the game throughout Kedizlim and Zinruna and it is now easy to find someone who knows how to play pretty much anywhere in the world.

Execution

The players are divided into two teams; Royalists and Loyalists and the deck is shuffled and evenly divided among all of the players. Once the cards are distributed, the royalist team will take any number of cards from the loyalist team and create a sequence. The loyalist team will then have ten seconds to memorize the sequence and will then have to repeat the sequence to the royalist team, if they cannot repeat it correctly, the royalist team keeps the cards they made the sequence with. The process then repeats with the loyalists drawing cards from the royalists and the royalists needing to recall the sequence. As teams lose cards, they also lose time to memorize new sequences, leading to a potential for one team to "snowball." Once one team has a certain proportion of the cards, typically when the other team is down to eight or nine cards total, the team with the most cards wins. Traditionally the game is played for five rounds at a time but this is only still common in Demia.
