"You'd be better off dying of thirst if they catch word you've drunk from this lake."
Biim lake is a freshwater lake in the Tarkena in central Kedizlim. The lake is noted for its centrality to the faith of the Oumai, called "plain elves" by humans. The Oumai hold the lake to be sacred and will not suffer anyone to drink its waters without the express consent of their religious authorities. This fervent attitude has led to numerous conflicts with the Crown Lands of Demia to the south as many Demians and other human groups have crossed the mountains to settle the Tarkena.
