Marvelous

In the beginning there was Eternity and Infinity, These brothers created the celestials, the fiends, the magical beings, and the mortals. They also created the planes of existence for each of them to live. There was an uneasy peace between the four types of beings, until Infinity hungry to sate his greed struck his brother down, to become the sovereign of the universe. Under the new name, Singularity, he began ruling the multiverse with an iron fist. Fearing the power of the celestials, fiends, and other magical creatures, Singularity imposed a taboo, no non-mortal being may directly oppose him.   With the taboo in place, all seemed lost, until the fiends proposed a solution, in directly oppose Singularity by arming the mortal races. Beings of good, evil, law, chaos, fire, wind, earth, and water, separately created eight super weapons to oppose Singularity, and came together to forge a 9th weapon, out of the remains of Eternity. 8 mortals were chosen to wield these 9 weapons and they took the fight to Singularity.   It was a tough war, but the mortals came out on top. It was a short lived victory though, "I will return when the fragments of my power reunite with a soulless body body!" echoed the dying words of Singularity as he exploded into a 8 beams of light. In preparation for the prophecy, the 8 heroes sealed away their weapons as gifts to future generations, and all beings began to search for the fragments of Singularity, or Infinity stones. For good or ill all beings covet their powers, as they are the key to becoming the new ruler of the multiverse.
