Maronde

Created by

Humans lived for hundreds of years across Maronde alongside twelve celestial beings known as the Shepherds, with each represented an aspect of the living world and helped humans progress in mana manipulation, giving them the ability to preforms feats of arcane wonder and destruction, with Arcanist warriors forming arcane armors out of mana to bolster their protection against arcane attacks and trained in martial and arcane combat.
During a period commonly referred to as the Meriath Dynasty, kingdoms across Maronde fought among themselves and Ethereals. A number of escalating conflicts between Arcanists and Ethereals came to a head in a war which resulted in the remaining Shepherds using their power to banish the demons and themselves to battle them in another plane, leaving humans without their Shepherds.
The Marondian people transitioned to the Usheau Dynasty as surviving kingdoms joined together and humans expanded into unknown territory. For a thousand years, human and Star Blessed Arcanists during this dynasty made great strides in their manacraft, using it to create grand structures and marvelous works. Also during this age, various powerful families wage a shadow war using Arcanists assassins and infiltrators.
At some point, a different clan of Celestials known as the Seliakyor, who rivaled the rumored power of the Shepherds, invaded Maronde. Onboard their floating fortress high above the Carana Ocean, sending out massive Ethereal demons known as Behemoths to wreak havoc across the world. As years of the war raged on, the Behemoths razed cities and slaughtered humans, Arcanists, and a couple of Shepherds fell to the Seliakyor. In a last effort, the Shepherds pulled their arcane ability and banished the Seliakyor to another plane and held them there. This action resulted in the destruction of a part of the world's core and the manasphere that converted the rays from the Sun and Moon to usable mana.
Some centuries later after humans have rebuilt from the wars, in the Pre Modern Era, new kingdoms formed and spread, with a number of Star Blessed formed the Followers of Amael, of Soul. This religion became widespread in Precursor Thraida as one of the monarchs, who was Soul Blessed, was deified, and made its way west. When Precursor Ilatos would not elevate Amael over all other Shepherds, the monarch kidnapped a child from a wealthy Ilatosian family, which sent the world of Maronde into a war.
In the aftermath and as the centuries that followed, various uprisings rose against the monarchies across all of the land due to the fallout from the war and growing resentment towards the ruling class and families due to a more ruthless implementation of law and order due to the war that followed. After a long and bloody revolution, new governments rose in the Dominions of Thraida and Inyalar, along with the birth of the new Dominion, Forlonde. All Dominions, with the exception of Ilatos, sign the Articles of Dominion Protection and the creation of the Inter Dominion Protection Agency or IDPA. People began moving to stake their claim in the newly transitioned Dominions, but the frontier became a battleground between the novice IDPA and hardened marauders clans that preyed on newfound townships.
Coming towards the end of this period, two major advancements in science launched Maronde into the Core Modern Era (CME the discovery of Solun; a particle found in solar and lunar light that can be used as an energy source and the creation of a computing language called sigil coding. Four years after their unveiling, a massive tech expo was held by small teams of engineers, inventors, backers, and investors to reveal the technological advancements made with the using of Solun and sigil coding. In order to bring the east and west Dominions, various investors pooled money and work began on a massive multi-train track going from coast to coast of Maronde. After the establishment of the TransLine and need for technological advancements, wealthy families and governments began funding engineers and establishing new guilds in order to better harness Solun. During this technological boom, guilds turned to industrial espionage in order to stay ahead of each other. After ten years, the Continental TransLine was completed.
