Manfred Kühl
Manfred Kühl is a former university student and now current vagabond or Vagant. Attending university with the hopes of becoming a trained doctor or doctor-priest by majoring in medicine, he was rebuked after he objected during the autopsy of a syphilis patient - the professor had stated that the syphilis was a curse from God for infidelity, and Kühl objected, providing recent "fringe" explanations grounded in miasma theory. Deemed unfit by the academic board for this outburst for the priesthood, Kühl was expelled, and has spent the past several years as a wandering healer and poetic entertainer. He has been unable to set up a functional healing practice, and has wandered from town to town as a result.
As a student, one evening he fell asleep drunk in the forest, and, when attending magical examinations within the next week, found his powers had increased dramatically without study. In the same forest, he also met Kaleb - a mad kobold, who became his inseparable companion.
